Michael Williamson, 47, had left a note at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday saying he was going fishing. His mother contacted law enforcement after he failed to return by dark. By KVAL.com staffKINGS VALLEY, Ore. -- A man who went fishing Wednesday afternoon and was considered missing later that night returned home at about 4 a.m. Friday with no idea he had been the subject of a search. Michael Williamson, 47, was not injured and had no clear explanation as to why he had not returned home when expected by his family. He told searchers he was fishing further south on the river and had no idea they were out looking for him.
Deputies responded to the Kings Valley at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and spoke with Patricia Williamson, who said her son, Michael Williamson, 47, had left a note at 4:30 p.m. saying he was going fishing. Williamson became concerned when her son failed to return to the residence before dark. She believed her son walked to the Luckiamute River near the residence. Deputies were unable to locate Williamson and notified Benton County Search and Rescue to assist in the effort. Search and Rescue personnel arrived on scene around 1:30am and began searching the area. The search continued throughout the day Thursday with an operations command set up at Kings Valley School on Hwy 223.
Also assisting in the search are members of the Linn County Sheriff's Office Dive Team and volunteers from Mary's Peak Search and Rescue, Benton County Amateur Radio Emergency Services, Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit, and K-9 Specialties.
