BOISE, Idaho - The man convicted of drugging and raping a 21-year-old woman in his Sun Valley condo in 2005 by using Match.com has been sentenced in court.

Jeffrey Marsalis was sentenced to life in prison in an Ada County courtroom Tuesday.

"I am sorry," Marsalis said in court. "I was drunk."

Marsalis' father had asked the judge for leniency prior to the sentencing.

Prosecutors accuse him of drugging the women's drinks and having sex with them while they were knocked out.

A lawyer for Marsalis says the women are angry because he'd lied about his accomplishments, claiming to be a doctor, an astronaut or a spy. In reality, he was a nursing student.

He was also convicted of sexual assault in a high-profile trial in Philadelphia in 2007.

Marsalis allegedly used the popular online dating service and then used date rape drugs to assault at lease seven women in Pennsylvania.
