UPDATE: Scheduled to make an appearance on KVAL TV promoting the Oregon Jamboree in Sweet Home, Ore., Kristy Lee Cook flew to Texas and won't make the planned appearance on the noon news, according to a representative of the Oregon Jamboree.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Mariah Carey praised her. Simon Cowell did what he does. And the country crooner from Selma, Ore., made it all the way to the top 7 in the 2008 edition of 'American Idol.'

Kristy Lee Cook, whose album "Why Wait" peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Top Country Albums, appears Tuesday, July 14, on KVAL News at noon with host Shelley Kurtz.
