EUGENE, Ore -- Lane County dentists are pitching in to help the nation's health care crisis. Dentists from all over the area gave free emergency dental care to low-income and uninsured patients Saturday morning at a north Eugene clinic. Some people lined up as early as 6 am. The first 50 got free extractions and fillings, and the generosity didn't go unnoticed. Ruby Marks said she's had severe tooth pain for several weeks.

"You don't know what a blessing this is," said Marks. "Because there are so many people that don't have dental insurance. I'm just grateful to be here."

There are four free dental clinics every year. The organizer said they've given away a quarter of a million dollars in free care since the program started two years ago.
