Seaside visitors spot whales from shore

SEASIDE, Ore. -- First sharks, now whales: Tourism officials in this coastal community say warmer ocean waters mean more marine life on display near shore.

Mikaela Norval, director of tourism for the Seaside Visitors Bureau, said visitors are seeing whales from the promenade in Seaside this summer.

Norval said that, like with sharks, whales are off the Oregon Coast all of the time. But because warmer waters are bring their food source closer to shore, whales are swimming very close to shore.
