CRESWELL, Ore. -- Lindsey Roberts first got word around midnight Thursday that her husband was coming home from Iraq that morning.

"It's been a crazy past year," she said while waiting at the Eugene Airport. "We got married a year ago and found out we were pregnant two days after he left so I'm anxious to see him."

The family arrived with Welcome Home balloons and signs at the Eugene Airport to await the arrival of Wayne Roberts, who has been in Iraq since March.

A lot has changed in that time: Roberts got to see his wife for the first time since they found out they're having a baby.

"It's definitely good, it's definitely good, it's definitely surprising, so it's good stuff," he said. "I know other people got home down in San Diego and had no family waiting by so it's definitely refreshing."

Roberts is here for only a brief visit but will be able to return home in November when the baby is born.
