Quarter million dollars worth of heroin found stashed in SUV
SALEM, Ore. - A drug-detecting dog found 1 1/2 pounds of black tar heroin stashed in an SUV early Tuesday morning, enough to land the driver in jail.
Officers later found another 4 1/2 pounds of the drug in a second concealed compartment inside the Nissan Pathfinder with Nevada plates.
All told, the traffic stop on Interstate 5 near Salem just after midnight Tuesday yielded 6 pounds of heroin worth an estimated $272,000.
Troopers arrested the driver, German Gonzalez-Almejo, 24, of Tijuana, on charges of Unlawful Possession and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Heroin.
