JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- As Deanna Apodaca talked Monday about baking cookies on Sunday afternoon, one word kept coming up:

Terrifying.

"My heart started racing, I just got terrified," said Apodaca.  "I wanted to notify everyone I could that this is potentially out there."

What is out there, she said, is a razor blade.  Apodaca said she tore a piece of Durable brand foil out of the box and set it on the counter, even spraying a cooking spray on the sheet before she noticed a razor blade stuck to the foil.

"It's not pretty," she said. "That's one of the scariest things I've ever seen."

The blade has Asian characters on one side, the word "Gillette" on the other.

Apodaca said she has no idea how the razor got into the box of foil, which she purchased in September.  Apodaca estimated she had used half of the roll.

KVAL News tried to contact the Illinois-based distributor, Durable Packaging International, on Monday and Tuesday.

The woman who answered the phone said she had not heard of any instances like this one but said all questions should be referred to the company's owner.  He had not returned calls by Tuesday afternoon.

While Apodaca initially believed she had purchased the aluminum foil at Safeway in Junction City, Ore., on Tuesday she said it could have come from another store.

Safeway's Portland-based public affairs director said on Tuesday the grocery store chain has never carried Durable's aluminum foil.

Apodaca just doesn't want anyone to get hurt.

"This time of year, people are baking, we spend a lot of time in our kitchens," Apodaca said.  "I'm just worried someone is going to get hurt."
