Arrest made in hit-and-run that injured cyclist

Police believe a driver lost control of a car that jumped a curb and hit a cyclist. The driver left the scene.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene police say they have made an arrest in the hit and run accident that left a bicyclist in the hospital. The accident happened in Eugene on 30th Avenue near Onyx Street. The bicyclist, Hart Godbold, has been released from the hospital.

Police say they arrested 23-year-old Joshua Gene Clifton, a Springfield resident. Clifton is at the Lane County Jail charged with:

  • Felony Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver
  • Assault in the Second Degree
  • Reckless Driving
  • Initiating a False Report
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Driving While Suspended (Misdemeanor)
  • Speed Racing

Police are still investigating and say there is the possibility a second driver was involved in the accident. They will not provide any more details.
