Funnel clouds spotted over Willamette Valley
EUGENE, Ore. -- Weather service spotters reported a funnel cloud east of Corvallis Wednesday afternoon, and an Albany resident sent KVAL News photographs of a funnel cloud.
"Don’t know if it touched down or not, but here’s the pictures I caught," Che'ri Long wrote. "It only took about 5 minutes for it to dissipate after taking these!"

KVAL News has not yet confirmed that Long's photos depict a funnel cloud. However, the National Weather Service said the air mass over Oregon is cool and unstable, a pattern that can produce cold air funnel clouds.
These funnels do not usually touch the ground -- but if they do, they are dangerous and can do damage, the weather service said.
Spotters reported a funnel cloud near Tangent, Ore., about 5 miles east of Corvallis at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday.
The weather pattern could produce more funnels as it moves east into the Cascade foothills, according to the weather service.
