Big dead squid washing up on Oregon Coast again
They bite, and fight, and allegedly taste alright (when caught live and prepared properly): Humboldt squid are washing up along the Oregon Coast.

SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) — Beachgoers along the north Oregon coast are finding giant dead squid.

KGW-TV says 45 of the Humboldt squid, some as long as 5 feet, have washed up in the Seaside area since Wednesday.

Seaside Aquarium General Manager Keith Chandler says it's not that unusual to find squid washed up on beaches in the early fall, but this many this late is unusual.

In fact, an influx of giant dead squid was reported in September along the central Oregon coast.

Chandler says the squid "usually come up in the summertime following warmer water currents and sometimes they get trapped in the cold water and they can't handle it. They die and end up washing up on the beaches."
