Duck football players in court this week

EUGENE, Ore. -- One Duck football player was in court Thursday, and another has an appearance scheduled for Friday morning.
Kiko Alonso pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving while uninsured, minor in possession of alcohol, improper right turn and failure to drive within a lane in municipal court Thursday.
Alonso has been suspened from the team for a season.
On Friday, kicker Rob Beard is scheduled to appear in Lane County Circuit Court at 8:30 a.m. along with the two men charged with beating him unconscious during a Jan. 24 street brawl near the University of Oregon.
Kirby Taylor Hawkins and Maurice Dion Peterson face assault charges in the beating that knocked Beard unconscious and sent him to the hospital.
Police later arrested Beard on suspcion of assaulting a 19-year-old woman during the same incident.
