Home-based businesses set up shop at shopping mall
EUGENE, Ore. -- More than 20 local business owners demonstrated and sold their products from home based businesses like Partylite Candles & Gifts, Avon Cosmetics, Cookie Lee Jewelry, and The Pampered Chef.
One company called TomBoy Tools was selling specialty tools designed to fit a women’s hand. The local owner said the TomBoy Tools started in Denver, Colorado and has now branched out as a direct sales home based business.
Businesses like TomBoy Tools were invited to the Valley River Center Mall in Eugene to showcase their products to mall customers.
Expo organizer Chris Looney said most of these businesses like Avon Cosmetics rely on word or mouth advertising and networking to sell their products. He said giving them the opportunity set up shop in the mall, exposes them to a broader demographic.
“These folks that own these types of businesses are always looking for ways to get their products out and show off what they do and talk about the business opportunities,” said Looney.
Looney also said more people are interested in started their own home based business. He predicts that vendors for the next expo will double.
“They provide a legitimate work from home opportunity for folks looking for a second income. or a stay at home mom or stay at home dad looking to do something on the side. and bring in a little additional income for the family,” said Looney.
The next Valley River Center home based business expo is scheduled for September 2010. For more information about the expo or participating businesses contact VRC at 541-683-5513.
