Are you feeling the heat?

Today Environment Oregon released a study saying Oregon's average temperature is heating up.

Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy was on hand for the announcement which took place outside of Eugene City Hall.

The study claims all seven Oregon cities studied reported more hot days in 2006 than their historical averages.

Jonathan Jelen with Environment Oregon says, "Here in Eugene for example we found the average maximum temperature last summer was 1.9 degrees higher that the average over the last 30 years and these trends are consistent across the entire state."

The study looked at data from more than two hundred weather stations across the country, comparing temperatures from the last six years with the 30 previous years.

The group is calling on U.S. Congress to pass legislation to reduce car and power plant emissions.
