Normal June: 1.43 inches rain. This June: 2 inches so far
EUGENE, Ore. - In less than four days, June 2010 has set two records for rainfall - and surged a half inch ahead of the average rainfall for the entire month.
A record .63 inches of rain fell in Eugene Thursday, beating the old record of .45 inches, the second straight day of record-setting rain. On Wednesday, .78 inches fell on Eugene, besting the old record of .48.
All told, 2 inches of rain have fallen on Eugene through Thursday.
The long-term average for all 30 days of June combined: 1.43 inches.
The rain has swollen rivers with dangerous fast water, toppled trees, damaged crops and put hillsides in danger of sliding.
