Restaurant remains open after car crashes into wall
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A car crashed into a restaurant Monday afternoon, leaving a hole in the wall - but not in its business.
The car hit El Rey's Mexican Restaurant at 19th and Main in Springfield around 2 p.m. Monday.
The car hit the restaurant's banquet room. No one was inside in the room at the time.
But restaurant owner, Rudy Gudierrez said whole restaurant heard when the car hit.
"It was just something like a hard noise like 'bang,' that's all I heard, nothing else," Gudierrez said. "I had five customers and everybody got up and ran."
Despite the crash, the restaurant remained open for business the remainder of the day.
"There was no blood, so no problem, and no hard feelings," Gudierrez said. "We're not going to let it stop us."
Gudierrez said no one inside was injured. No word on the condition of the driver.
The car still had dealer placards, indicating it was fairly new.
Springfield Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
