SWEET HOME, Ore. -- A man was taken into custody by Linn County Sheriff's Department after attacked his mother. Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a house near Sweet Home.
Joyce Ritterbush, 79, told police that her mentally-ill son was armed with a pistol and a shotgun. The son, 50-year-old Chris Walnum, reportedly threatened Ritterbush with the guns and struck her, leaving a cut on her forehead.
Deputies arrived to find Walnum barricaded inside of a travel trailer on the property that he lived in. The LCSD officials cleared everyone off the property before attempting to talk Walnum into leaving his trailer.
After a two and a half hour stand-off the Linn County Regional SWAT Team entered the trailer and detained Walnum without any injuries.
Walnum was initially taken to the Lebanon Hospital for an evaluation before being taken to the Linn County Jail on multiple charges.
