EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon Duck football wide receiver Josh Huff went on trial Wednesday on DUII and other charges from a March 2012 traffic stop, municipal court officials confirmed.
Eugene Police cited Huff on March 3 on charges DUII, speeding and driving without a license.
Municipal court selected a jury of 6 on Wednesday for the misdemeanor trial.
Prosecutors contend Huff was under the influence of marijuana at the time. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
A Eugene Police spokesperson said Huff was stopped at E. 18th Avenue and Agate Street. Police said no one else was in the car when Huff was cited, but the car was not registered to Huff.
Police said Huff was cooperative at the scene, and that he was not lodged at the Lane County Jail that night.
Huff's car was impounded and he was released to a friend.
University of Oregon spokesperson Dave Williford said at the time that both then-coach Chip Kelly and the university were aware of the situation.
Huff played the 2012 football season for Fiesta Bowl victor No. 2 Oregon.
