Oregon highway closed after report of bomb in car
LEBANON, Ore. -- Police said they closed down Highway 34 just west of Lebanon Saturday night after a man called reporting a bomb inside his car.
Linn County Sheriff's Officials said that they received multiple 9-1-1 calls Saturday night from a man parked in his car alongside the highway between Interstate 5 and Lebanon.
Officials said that the man (who they say sounded disturbed) initially called police reporting that he thought someone put a bomb inside of his car.
At around 8 p.m. the sheriff's office closed down the highway as a safety precaution while waiting for the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad to investigate the car.
The Oregon Department of Transportation established a detour around the closure at milepost 14.
After an investigation, the bomb squad said they found no evidence of a bomb inside the car.
Officials said that the closure lasted for about two hours.
The man who called in the bomb was arrested for two counts of disorderly conduct, making a false report to an officer and misuse of 9-1-1. He has since been released.
Fear alert... Fear alert...
Was he drunk or a mental case where is the follow up.
