Police: Car burglar caught wearing victim's coat

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A homeless man accused of breaking into over 20 cars around Springfield and Eugene was arrested Thursday after a theft victim saw the man wearing his stolen coat.
Springfield Police officials said that Garron Mitchell Medicinecrow, a 21-year-old transient, was arrested on theft and burglary warrants, as well as stealing the coat.
Police received reports of more than 20 car break-ins in the last week, many happening in the Harlow Road and Gateway areas of Springfield. In each break in the suspect broke in a window and stole items from inside the car.
Early Thursday morning a man called police saying that he saw Medicinecrow walking along Centennial Boulevard wearing a coat stolen from his car earlier that week. Police subsequently arrested Medicinecrow on theft and burglary warrants at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators said that the suspect multiple other items with him that had been reported stolen in eight of the break-ins involving shattered windows.
Medicinecrow was lodged at the Lane County Jail on the warrants and will be transferred to the Springfield Municipal Jail for his crimes committed in Springfield, including criminal mischief, theft, possession of burglary tools and unlawful entry of a vehicle.
Springfield Police said that they expect to file more charges and arrests as they continue to investigate the break-ins.
To aaronsgma.....how can you be so judgemental about someone you don't even know. This is my nephew, and yes he has been arrested on crimes, but until he gets his day in court and is convicted, who are you to JUDGE anyone and his teeth are certainly none of your concern....JUDGING YOU by your post, you need to get to go back to grammar school and EDUCATE YOURSELFÂ and as for your suggestion about Dentures, and Judging by your picture...seems you Need Jenny Craig your damn self!
@Naval Aviation Officer I hope that your nephew finds the help he seems to desperately need. Best wishes to your whole family.
I dont want to encourage theft, but gee whiz, breaking into a dentist office for dentures would have been a better idea.
Those poor homeless people. They never hurt anybody huh?!
@EUGENE541 Well, not if you ignore thefts, burglaries, public urination and defecation, destruction of parks, trashing of public buildings, assaults on other homeless people, and confrontational begging.  Other than those minor matters, they're just fine.
@hewhoo  @EUGENE541 Not all homeless people do these things. Im in no way standing up for the ones that do commit crimes. being homeless is not illegal in itself.
meth sucks, don't it?
One of Pleasant Hill/Dexter/Jasper's finest products.
Huh, how about that. Even though LCSO can't lodge him Springfield can hold him for the lesser charges he committed. If only Eugene could figure this out, but Kitty is too busy building a tent city to care about the crime in her city.Â
Those teeth belong on somebody four times his age... tragic. Hope he gets locked up however. It might be his last opportunity to turn his life around.
