Sheriff: Naked man armed with shovel frightens family

SWISSHOME, Ore. - A woman barricaded herself and four children after finding a naked man armed with a shovel in her home Tuesday afternoon, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

The family arrived home to find the naked man in their kitchen. The mother told deputies the man swung the shovel at her as she moved her children away from him.

She called 911 after taking refuge in the bathroom.

Two Lane County Sheriff's Deputies and Oregon State Police responded to the home on Highway 36 around 1 p.m. When they arrived, they found the man walking outside near the residence.

The man, identified as Erik David Jensen, 32, said he had been at the Oregon Country Fair and used drugs recently, the sheriff's office said.

A vehicle registered to him with Idaho plates was found nearby, the sheriff's office said, and contained women’s underwear and bras.

Jensen was taken into custody and taken to the Lane County Jail on charges of Attempted Assault 2, Burglary 1, Menacing x 5, Theft 3, and Escape 3.
