SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Braden Pelky has had a mighty big secret since January.

"It's been very hard. I'm kind of a talker and I don't keep secrets very well," said Pelky.

He competed on "Wheel of Fortune" in January, and his lips have been sealed since on how he did. But that doesn't mean family and friends haven't tried to get the secret out of him.

"Trying slyly to get clues from them," explained Pelky's sister-in-law Kristina Lemoigne. Pelky's wife Teresa, his sister, a different sister-in-law and her boyfriend all went to the show's taping, and have all kept the secret as well.

"I wouldn't be able to keep secrets that long," said Lemoigne. "It's probably why they didn't tell me. They know I'd be the person who'd go tell everybody."

Plenty of family, friends, and neighbors showed up Wednesday to find out just how well Pelky did on "Wheel of Fortune."

"It's kind of nice to watch people squirm," said Teresa Pelky, Braden's wife.

The crowd cheered as they watched the show, and some even wiped away tears when Pelky won a dream vacation to the Bahamas.

In the end, Pelky won more than $51,000 on the show. The Pelkys said they'll put most of it away, pay some bills, and start saving for college for their baby boy.

"Seeing everybody's reaction is awesome," said Teresa Pelky. "If they would've known, they wouldn't have had this much excitement on their faces."
