State Police: Driver unhurt in head-on crash along I-5

TUALATIN, Ore. -- A Hillsboro man walked away from a car crash uninjured Thursday afternoon after he lost control of his car on I-5, crashed into a Ford pickup truck and hit a concrete barrier, state police said.

Police said that David Cole ,19 of Hillsboro, was on a northbound Interstate 5 on ramp near Tualatin at around 1:10 p.m. when he lost control of his Acura Integra.

After leaving the Nyberg Road on ramp, Cole crossed all three northbound lanes of I-5 and came to a stop in the left lane facing the wrong direction, state police said.

Officials said that Eric Lundy, 37 of Portland, was driving his Ford F-150 in the far left lane and couldn't avoid hitting the Acura head on.

Police said the pickup drove over the front of the car, pushing both vehicles into the concrete median.

The left lane was closed to traffic for around 40 minutes while crash investigators worked the scene.

Police said they think excessive speed was a factor in the crash. Neither driver was cited for the crash at the scene, however police said they are continuing their investigation.
