Teen charged with killing red-tail hawk
Oregon State Police have charged a 16-year-old male for shooting a red-tail hawk in the Swan Lake area near Klamath Falls.
Authorities say that an OSP Fish & Wildlife trooper responded to a report from a landowner that two juvenile males were involved in the shooting of a hawk on his property and then they tried to flee the area.
The trooper found the dead hawk, later contacted the two juveniles and then cited one of them for Unlawful Take of Protected Species.
there have been several past reports during this time of the year of hawk and eagle killings in the area.
Anyone who witnesses these types of crimes or has information related to these investigations to call OSP or the United States Fish & Wildlife Service.
Cry me a river. That kid needs more than harsher words before he ends up at Pelican or some place similar.
Cold Blooded Murderers? What did you do at sixteen? Don't Assume and Be impeccable with your words, such negativity can alter this boys future, he is a kid.Â
@mtndewd I didn't kill birds for fun at 16. They need to do community service that helps them relate to wild things in the forests. And yes, killing anything for fun is cold blooded killing to me. Sixteen is old enough to know right from wrong. Too bad there isn't an "don't like" button for comments.
Shoot one hawk for every dollar in fine
This is too sad for words. To think that teenagers could destroy a life on a whim. For no other purpose than to kill. Two future cold blooded murders in the making!
How horrible. I know that meeting violence with violence solves nothing, but there is a small part of me that just wants to SLAP those kids silly. How can anyone do that to a native bird, and a rather handsome one at that, is simply beyond me. I hope they have to do a ton of community service for their thoughtless act.
So if you =really= believe that "meeting violence with violence solves nothing"... then why do you advocate doing it?
Â
Stop kidding yourself. You instinctively believe in using violence. You just admitted it.
Â
You are not absolved by your self-righteous false sense of moral superiority over the rest of us.Â
Â
@oregoncraig I'm sorry, did you not get the "small part of me"? Are you so dense that you don't understand a written response showing anger?  "Self-righteous"?? Wow, you personify the word, OC. As for YOU, sorry, but you are nothing to me, anymore than what EYE think means ANYTHING to you. You just like to slam other people online where you can't be challenged in person. Pah! Silly little man. See? I can call people I don't know from adam nasty names online too. I stand by my original comment. You can go FO.
