Witnesses: Man pulls gun on suspect, holds him for cops

COOS BAY, Ore. -- A man was arrested on an assault charge on Wednesday, and witnesses tell police that the suspect was held at gunpoint by an armed citizen.
Coos Bay police arrested Donald Johnson, 53, after a disturbance at the Coos Bay Fred Meyer.
Witnesses told police that Johnson was involved in a fight in front of the store, when the citizen pulled out a handgun and placed Johnson under what police called a "citizen's arrest."
Johnson was taken into custody and lodged in the Coos County Jail on a fourth degree assault charge.
In this situation, What happens if the "bad guy" just flips the gun holder off and walks to his car and drives off? What contingency/recourse should the gun pointer follow? Should he hit him over the head with the gun handle? Is a warning shot allowed? Can he shoot at his car?Â
Maybe this bad guy just got jumped at a bar by 3 guys the night before and he decided to take out one of them one-on-one when the other 2 bullies weren't around (a fairer contest).
There have been times (very few) in my life, where I might just dare/even taunt the gun pointer (non-police officer) to shoot me, in such an hypothetical: "cause when you ain't got nuttin', you ain't got nuttin to lose".
Do we really want some revenged filled misereable SOB (as I admit to have been in the past) getting shot over a fist fight is my last question?
Â
Â
Wonder what the gun guy would have done if this stooge had just walked away? Shot him in the back with everyone watching?Â
Â
That's why law enforcement is constantly training for these situations. When you point a gun at a mentally unstable person, anything can happen. But, I'm sure the NRA would say that's justification for blowing his head off, and we're better off without him. Better have a really, really good lawyer. Gun toters really should think these things through.Â
 @umpqua rafter You gun haters are all the same you are never satisfied. The good guy had a gun and stopped the bad guy, isn't that good enough for you ?
 @umpqua rafter I see you're one of those types who believes the badge is a magical artifact that makes one an infallible super hero.  How many times have we read news headlines where law enforcement has used excessive force or poor judgment?  Do you recall the incident where NYPD fired into a crowd and hit 9 bystanders?
@umpqua rafter I am going to guess that you are one of those people who scream bloody murder that "someone should have done something!" when bad things happen. I would be willing to bet that you would lack the courage or fortitude to help someone in trouble. People like YOU are what is wrong with the country. Cowards who call themselves citizens. I'm sure you voted for Obama.
@Oregonian It's the typical "sky is falling" mantra of the unwashed liberal. I have plenty of  comprehensional reading ability to know, that after perusing the article just once, that no one's head was blown off. I can't even see where a single round was fired. UR is just another shrill buffoon using the art of exaggeration to set up a strawman. Give him no credence or attention. He has earned neither.
@OregonOrator ---I am gunna' read what you write Babe! I really like gun owners that can back up what they say. You R gunna' get a B-Minus from me 'til I learn a little more. Still not convinced from what you expectorate.
 @umpqua rafter You don't think that we take all that into consideration? The armed citizen is usually more trained and then your local police force. Ask any cop you come across if that isn't so and you will see for yourself. We also have to take into consideration that as responsible "Gun toters" as you say, have to also protect your ass when the SHTF.Â
 @Delmar Voegele  @umpqua rafter Bit over the top Delmar. First time I met a NRA member we checked out his vintage double barrel shotgun. We were in his kitchen. I asked is the gun loaded? He said what good is a unloaded gun.  The gun discharged a blew a hole threw ceiling and roof.  The nut behind the trigger is wide ranging.
Evidently the dad had an accidental and tragic discharge with his gun 53 years ago.
You can't always believe what you read.... Is it for real or is it "Baldr-dash"?
needed a gun to arrest him?Â
Gunnutz love to bully, it makes their juices run.
Â
 @godless anarchist Well, Yeah... what else? Sit on him? Ask him to please stop?
 @godless anarchist Yes...
I mean look at this guy...how far gone is he for his age...thanks to the wonderful magic of meth!
Wonder if this would be a story if suspect was held in check without a gun. Â
 @drinkmorewater Only to Baldr-Dash...lol
 @UsaidWHAT Omg, I love that I've started this. LOL.
Baldr Odinson says:
