PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Some new cheeses will be developed in Oregon thanks to an $860,000 donation to Oregon State University.
The retired president of Sunshine Dairy Food in Portland, Paul Arbuthnot, and his wife Sandra Arbuthnot donated the money to create a dairy center in the College of Agricultural Sciences and to support the work of OSU Professor Lisbeth Goddik.
Goddik told The Oregonian she'll use the money to support family farms that specialize in artisan cheeses. She says she'll invite international cheese makers to Oregon to develop new cheeses, such as Italian varieties.
