EUGENE, Ore --  KVAL's Denae D'Arcy has been asking for viewer tips on how to save money. Several people have sent in emails with ideas.

K. Walk of Lowell says "One way that I like to save money at Christmas time is by shopping at Value Village. They are the only local place I know of that has new merchandise as well as the regular thrift store merchandise. They have new toys and other gift items at discount prices."

Andy Wheatley of Springfield shared this suggestion: "After my candles were used up I would just throw them away. Then, after realizing that there was about 30 to 40% of the wax left, I decided to place the jar in a pan of low boiling water to melt the wax. I placed a new wick in it, you can use cotton string, and now the candle is good to go again."

Paulette Fowler has this idea, "My partner and I came up with a clever and fun book that can save families a lot of money and keep them entertained at home. We dug around looking for items to put on top notch treasure hunts at low affordable prices.

If you have an idea on how to save money, post a comment below or email Denae at ddarcy@kval.com.
