When the 'Something Borrowed' is the dress
EUGENE, Ore. -- There's a new cost cutting trend for brides. Many are renting wedding dresses rather than buying them.
Aimee Csiszer shopped for her wedding dress at Something Borrowed Bridal Boutique in Eugene. She plans to rent a dress rather than pay full cost, for a fraction of the price.
Csiszer said "You can get a gorgeous designer gown and you don't have to have it sitting in the closet after the fact."
Rosana Perry who owns Something Borrowed Bridal Boutique says more brides are watching their money closely and choosing to pay less for the dress.
"I've had 67 calls in the last month," said Perry, "of brides wanting to rent. Out of those 40 have come by and out of those actually 36 have rented."
On average, a designer wedding dress costs $2000. At Something Borrowed Bridal Boutique, brides pay $150 plus a refundable damage deposit to rent a dress. That's a potential savings of $1850.
Csiszer said with the money she saves by renting a dress, she will pay to fly in her family for the wedding. They wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.
