Success of Springfield store inspires Cabela's next retail move
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Cabela's credits the success of the company's store in Gateway Mall with spurring on plans to open more "outpost" stores this year, including a new store planned for Union Gap, Wash., near Yakima.
"Due to the success of the next-generation stores, and in particular the success of the smaller Springfield, Oregon, store, Cabela's has developed a new "Outpost" store format," the company said in a filing Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. "The first Outpost store is expected to open in the fall of 2012 and will be located in Union Gap, Washington."
The Springfield store opened in May 2011.
The company reported 25 percent growth in the fourth quarter, plus plans to buy back 800,000 shares of common stock by February 2013.
