Eat at Pete's: 'Help us stay open'

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg business is pleading with the public for patronage, and it seems to be working.
The sign out front says it all: 'Help us stay open, please eat here!'
Pete's Drive-In has been a Roseburg staple for decades.
But, lately, business has been slow.
Employees came up with the idea for the sign, but owner Chuck Caskey didn't like the idea. "They asked me for about two weeks solid and I said, "No" every time," said Chuck. "So, when they put it up, they said 'we're not going to listen to you,' and they put it up there anyway."
Chuck says he's glad they didn't listen to him.
The sign has only been up for a few days, but it's been working.
The parking lot has been packed pretty much non-stop since the sign went up, and customers KPIC News spoke with said they came in because they wanted to help.
Chuck says it's humbling to see how many people care about keeping his business afloat.
A Facebook group for Pete's started just a few days ago and already has over 600 followers.
Organizers are asking people to stop by Pete's this Saturday to help the old business stay up and running.
IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH THE FOOD ?? PEOPLE TOO CHEAP TO EAT OUT ??
Good food. Â Good price. Â Hot waitresses. Â Nuff said.
soon there will be no small independent business in america. corporates are doing an excellent job closing them down.
@Bobby Williams NO MORE MOM AND POP BUSINESSES EITHER, WAL-MART IS PUTTING THEM OUT OF BUSINESS.
Maybe we can get Jerry's employees to tell the boss that these commercials suck....
Great work by the employees! We need to support the local businesses and asking for customers is no different than putting an ad in the paper. I hope this works and Pete's stays open!
Nice storyÂ
Fore this week
Then, when you all begin going back to Mickey D's or 5 Guys he'll close in a month or 2.
No guarantees in the Restaurant Biz.
Perhaps convert to a food truck and cut expenses and find your fans, because if business is down, there is a reason this plea will not solve!
I used to eat here all the time, They have great burgers and fries and it's a "drive-in"! If I still lived there I would support them! Why aren't the high school kids going there for lunch?
