Ugly neckties worth $5 this Saturday

EUGENE, Ore. - Dads, dig out your ugliest necktie: a local store plans a contest and barbecue this weekend with a $50 prize for the worst tie in town.

“For years the big joke has always been giving Dad a tie for Father’s Day,” said Buzz Wheeler, owner of Coastal Farm and Ranch. “Bring in an old tie and we’ll instantly give you a free $5 gift card just for entering the contest. It should be a bunch of fun. We can’t wait to see all the crazy ties.”

The grand prize: a $50 gift card.

The store at 220 West 6th St. also plans to host a barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Family members can get a burger and cold drink for a quarter, Wheeler said. Dads eat for free.
