EUGENE, Ore. - Free parking spots at the Lane County Fair fill up by 1 p.m., so many fair goers have to turn to the streets.

Business owner Kelly Fitzpatrick said the same thing happens every year up and down Jefferson Street.

"People just started lining up on the road and along the sidewalks here," she said, "and I was like, 'What is going on?' "

The parking creates some problems for motorists  trying to see around big cars and trucks.

Some area businesses around the fairgrounds are taking advantage of the parking problem and expect to make a little extra money this weekend.)

O'Hara Catholic School filled the entire school lot from corner to corner at $5 per carload -and still had to turnaway cars. is filling up their lots 5 bucks a carload..

Fitzpatrick suggested the problem could be fixed with more use of public transportation.

"Reduced cars, increased mass transportation, create and EmX down 6th, 11th or 7th," she said. "I think allowing for more automobiles is not the question but allowing for less automobiles is the answer."
