MEMORIALS

As part of Veterans Day celebrations statewide, the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs (ODVA) will once again host a memorial ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m., on the department's grounds in Salem, 700 Summer St. N.E. The public ceremony will honor four fallen Oregon service members who died recently while serving in Afghanistan and Iraq plus, the other 127 men and women who have given their lives while serving our nation.  The names of the fallen are inscribed on the Afghan-Iraqi Freedom Memorial and will be read during the ceremony.

HOCKEY GAME

The Eugene Generals are having Military Appreciation Night Friday Nov. 11 at 7:35.  All active duty veterans and their families will receive free admission to the night’s game. 

CAR WASH

New Image Car Wash at 526 Harlow Road in Springfield offers Veterans a complimentary
Express car wash. Available 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

OREGON ZOO

The Oregon Zoo will mark Veterans Day by offering free admission for military veterans and active military personnel, as well as family members who accompany them to the zoo. Families of deployed military personnel also will be given free admission. To receive free admission Friday, Nov. 11, visitors must show a military or veteran organization ID, discharge papers or other official military identification; families of deployed military personnel must show an active duty ID. The Zoo Store is also offering a 10 percent discount for veterans, active military personnel and their families, with proper identification.

The zoo opens at 9 a.m. daily and is located five minutes from downtown Portland, just off Highway 26. The zoo is also accessible by MAX light rail line. CHIROPRACTOR

The Association of Lane County Chiropractors will be honoring veterans this Veterans Day by having 16 of their clinics available for complimentary Chiropractic back care. Appointments must be made prior to care.  List of participating clinics.

FOOD

Applebee's will thank our nation's Veterans and Active Duty Military by inviting them to their neighborhood Applebee's for a free thank you meal on Veterans Day from 11 a.m. - midnight; guests should inquire with their local Applebee's restaurant about extended hours.

RECREATION

The U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) are waiving fees at most day-use recreation sites over Veterans Day weekend in honor of U.S. veterans and members of the U.S. armed forces.


CLOSED

All Lane County Government offices, the main office of Department of Youth Services, Lane County Circuit Court, Lane County Waste Management transfer sites, Lane County Animal Services and the District Attorney’s Office will be closed Friday, November 11, in observance of the Veterans Day Holiday.

All Benton County offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veteran’s Day. The Sheriff’s Office will continue with patrols during the holiday. All Benton County offices will re-open for regular business hours on Monday, Nov. 14.

Lane Community College will be closed to the public for the Veterans Day holiday on Friday, Nov. 11. No services will be available, and no classes or events will be held, unless otherwise scheduled by a department or program.
