Going black can save you some green
By Denae D'Arcy KVAL NewsEUGENE, Ore. -- October is a month of haunts, but at the Greenhill Humane Socitey in Lane County, it is a month to save some money. Patrons can adopt a black cat or kitten for half off the adoption fee during October. Cats usually adopt for $55 or more. This month, you can take home a new family friend for $27.50 and up. If your household would rather have a black kitten, you'll pay around $50. The fee to adopt a kitten is usually $100. Don't worry about the urban legend that black cats bring bad luck. Britians claim an all-black cat is good luck and Scots say having a black cat on your porch is a sign of riches and good fortune.
