EUGENE, Ore. --  We're expected to have a warm weekend so before the weather gets too chilly, some neighborhoods are organizing yard sales and garage sales.

First, decide if you have enough items to host a weekend-long sale.  Most people only have the time and energy for an eight-hour Saturday sale.

After you decide when you're having the sale, advertise.  Craigslist.org has a garage sale link where families can post a free ad about upcoming sales. You can also post free classifieds on the new KVAL Community sites.

Be specific in your ad.  If you are selling camping gear, skiis and computer parts, list them.  Shoppers who puruse ads on-line might stop by your location if they see something that interests them.  Don't forget to include the address.

When it comes to price, go low.  Keep in mind that most items sell for 25 to 30 percent of the retail price.  For instance, if you buy a sheet set new for $20, it would price at approximately $5 at a garage sale.
