Is Thursday the new Friday?
EUGENE, Ore. -- When it comes to holiday shopping, Thursday is the new Friday.
That's right -- several stores will be open and offering holiday savings Thanksgiving day.
Old Navy will be open from 12 to 7 Thursday. Radio Shack will be open from 10 to 6. Up Interstate 5, the Woodburn Company Stores will open at 10 p.m.
And now you can consider the traditional 5 a.m. Black Friday start as sleeping in. Old Navy plans to open at 3 a.m. Friday. Toys-R-Us will open at midnight.
"It's not the economy, although obviously everyone wants to be the first out there to get the dollars that are spent," said Gary Smith, with the Lane Business Development Center. "The biggest thing is about creating an experience for your customer and that's where it more comes from."
While some shoppers we talked to deemed that early start "crazy," others say you can't put a time on saving money.
"None. It wouldn't be too early," said Brenda Frazee, a Eugene resident.
