Coburg Road crimes: 'People don't expect to be, you know, robbed'

EUGENE, Ore. - Recent armed robberies at nearby restaurants surprised Brian Schnider, owner of the UPS Store on Coburg Road.

"I'm definitely aware of it, and it's definitely a concern because being here 10 years, I haven't had anything happen like what's happened in the past month, so it's definitely a concern for us," Schnider said.

Eugene Police said the armed robberies at the Coburg Road McDonalds and BJ's Restaurant are very similar.

Local residents aren't too shocked but said the area could draw criminals looking to make a quick buck.

"One reason why people might be choosing these particular targets is because it is a nice neighborhood and people don't expect to be, you know, robbed," resident Bryan Haynes said.

Other businesses spoke to KVAL News off camera. Workers said they're worried about employee safety, so they're making changes to improve security.
