Lane County Fair: Family fun - and a target for thieves

EUGENE, Ore. - Thousands of families from around the region visit the Lane County Fair, leaving their cars parked - and exposed to thieves.
Based on statistical analysis, the area near the fairgrounds may experience an increase in reports of vehicle break-ins and thefts throughout fair week, the Eugene Police Department said.
"Anytime large numbers of vehicles are left unattended for extended periods of time make easy pickings for local thieves," police said.
They offered these theft prevention tips:
- Remove all items (and any extra items such as backpacks and purses that may tempt thieves even if there are no valuables inside) from the car prior to leaving home.
- Secure vehicles by rolling up the windows and locking doors (even on a hot day - it is better to take a few minutes to air out a hot car than to discover a theft)
- Utilize a theft prevention device (e.g. The Club)
- Don't leave anything in your car unattended
Well, I think I will remove everything from my vehicle, including worthless radio, all paperwork and leave my glove box open and windows part way down and doors unlocked. That way they won't break my windows to get into my car as I don't want to have to replace the windows. Doing it this way they can clearly see there is nothing to steal. And if they want to steal my car...well then have at it!!!
And dispite all the warnings people will still leave crap in their cars that some thief thinks that he or she needs to break your fing window to get. just empty the car out at home and save yourself alot of drama=)
Easy picking for thieves? Really what you should have said is that Thieves, more commonly known as the lowest form of scum sucking pond trash need to be treated as such and removed from society. It is a sad thing that a person can't leave something unattended without having to worry the whole time they are gone that they will return to a broken window, pried trunk or something of that nature. If we had judges that would deal with thieves there would be far less to worry about, but you see the public rarely gets to elect a judge, their peers recommend and they are appointed by the governor, then usually no one ever runs against them as long as they want the job. Get some tough judges and things will gradually change for the better, if not expect it to get worse.
