Police: Man found lost phone, demanded money from owner

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Police say a 27-year-old Boise man was anything but a Good Samaritan when he found a lost cell phone over the weekend.
Joshua G. Escoto remained jailed Tuesday on a felony extortion charge after police say he contacted the phone's owner and demanded money in exchange for the device.
Authorities say it all started late Sunday, when a woman reported to police that she'd lost her phone in downtown Boise and the man who had found it had contacted her, saying she had to pay him or he would sell the device.
Boise police say they arrested Escoto after the woman arranged to meet him for the exchange.
The Spokesman-Review reports Escoto is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a license, a misdemeanor.
Another Loser.
a couple weeks ago i was driving home and something caught my eye,it was a cell phone in good condition, after a little sleuthing we got some one(the wife)to answer a call from her husbands phone, she was rude and had no problem telling me when they would come by yada yada no reward barely a thank you.if I ever see his phone laying in the street again I would ignore it if I knew it was his or hers, found it on 54th street springfield to the rude broad you know who i am
I lost my wallet once, and the guy who found it not only kept an entire week's pay (I had just cashed the check), tracked down my home phone number and started calling me, wanting me to pay to get my ID back, or worse yet, EARN it back. Got the State Troopers involved, and they eventually caught him because he couldn't resist bragging about it.....to someone who actually knew me. Â
