EUGENE, Ore. -- Dalia is a new face in the downtown Eugene restaurant scene, bringing old Mediterranean flavor to the tables at it’s on Broadway and Pearl location.
The restaurant owner, Ibrahim Hamide, reformatted his restaurant Café Zenon to have a menu closer to what he was serving up at Casablanca. During a visit from Tasty Tony, Hamide decided to whip up one of his own dishes he calls Chicken Casablanca.
Hamide blends fresh tomatoes, garlic white wine and olive oil to start off the dish, then adds in some chicken.
“So we don't false advertise, it’s very simple. Gonna put a little spinach in it, you can just tear it with your hands as you are putting it in ... no need to be uniform,” the Mediterranean master said as he tossed ingredients into a pan.
Hamide said he decided to rename the restaurant as a tribute to his daughter Dalia. For him, the shift toward a Mediterranean menu reflected a similar change toward family traditions.
