Statement by Governor on Hynix Closure
“The Hynix announcement today of their intention to close their Eugene facility is disappointing and comes at a difficult time for the Eugene community.
“Hynix has played a significant role in Eugene’s economy and their departure not only impacts their employees but the entire county, particularly coupled with the loss of the county payment program.
“As Governor my priority is to assist the employees and their families during this difficult time. I have directed the Oregon Department of Employment and the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department to deploy a rapid response team and make all of the state’s workforce resources available immediately for the employees impacted by this closure.
“Hynix has been a great corporate citizen for Oregon and the City of Eugene. And while the company may be closing the doors to this particular operation I am hopeful that the state and the city of Eugene can continue to partner with Hynix or other prospective companies to create new opportunities for the citizens of Lane County.”
