Lane County state highway construction update

Oct. 27 to Oct. 31, 2008

 

 

INTERSTATE 5: BELTLINE INTERCHANGE

Mileposts 194.5 to 196

Motorists should expect substantial traffic changes for northbound traffic exiting to westbound

Beltline Highway
. The contractor switched traffic onto the flyover bridge early Friday morning. Other activities include bridge, roadway, landscaping, and pedestrian path construction. Expect daytime lane closures and short delays on
Game Farm Road
below Interstate 5 as work continues there. Weather permitting, the contractor will continue with permanent striping during the daytime and nighttime hours. Be alert for workers near the roadway and for message boards with information for motorists. The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 30.

 

I-5: MCKENZIE RIVER TO GOSHEN GRADE

McKenzie River Bridges to Goshen on I-5

(Between milepost 188 to milepost 201)

This project will replace two sets of bridges at the I-5/Highway 58 interchange (in Goshen) and replace two bridges that carry I-5 traffic over the McKenzie River north of Eugene-Springfield. 

  • McKenzie View Drive
    : Watch for roadside crews and construction equipment. Watch for alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Expect brief delays.

     

  • I-5 at McKenzie River : Watch for roadside workers and equipment.

     

·         I-5 at the Highway 58 Goshen interchange:  The I-5 southbound off-ramp to eastbound Highway 58 is now located just south of the bridge over

Franklin Boulevard
; it will remain open at this location throughout construction. Expect occasional flagging on the off-ramp around the clock. 

 

  • The westbound Highway 58 to southbound I-5 on-ramp is closed. Signs direct traffic to use
    Cloverdale Road
    or the I-5 ramp to
    Franklin Boulevard
    .

     

  • Southbound I-5 at
    Franklin Boulevard
    :
    Watch for roadside workers and construction equipment.

     

  • Franklin Boulevard
    under I-5: Watch for traffic controlled by flaggers. Expect brief delays for bridge work.

     

  • McKenzie River users: The main channel is open to river traffic. Watch for work on either side of the channel.

     

 

OR 58: GOSHEN TO OAKRIDGE

Bridge repair and replacement project

(Highway 58 near Goshen to Oakridge)

This project will replace or repair five bridges along Highway 58 between Goshen and Oakridge. The bridges are at mile post 1.96, just east of Goshen (repair); mile post 2.71 just east of the I-5 and Highway 58 interchange (replace); the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge at mile point 8 near Pleasant Hill (replace); the Lost Creek Bridge at mile post 9.5 west of Lowell (replace); and a bridge over a private logging road near Oakridge. Two-lane traffic will be maintained between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days a week. For the week of Oct. 27, the contractor’s activities include:

  • Willamette River Relief Opening at mile post 2.5: Watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the highway.
  • Willamette Overflow at mile post 2.7: Watch for construction crews.
  • UPRR Overcrossing at mile post 8.1: Please drive carefully through the work zone. Watch for construction work on the north side of Highway 58.
  • Lost Creek Bridge at mile post 9.5: Watch for roadside construction equipment and crews.
  • Private Logging Road
    at mile post 37.1:  Watch for roadside construction crews.

WHITEAKER AVENUE

LONDON ROAD

(I-5 milepost 174 to milepost 172 in Cottage Grove )

This project will replace three I-5 bridges and repair two other I-5 bridges near Cottage Grove

will be open with occasional one-way traffic controlled by flaggers.

:  Expect a single-lane closure on southbound I-5 overnight Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as traffic is switched to the final southbound alignment. Watch for roadside crews and construction equipment.   

 

·         Southbound I-5 over Landess and Taylor:  Watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes.

 

 

OR222: Springfield South City Limits to Jasper Bridge section

Jasper Road
: milepost 1.2 to milepost 5.1)

 

This project includes several safety improvements on

Jasper Road
between Springfield and Jasper. Improvements include widening roadway shoulders, new guardrail, striping and signing upgrades as well as clearing trees and other vegetation off shoulders. Work locations will change regularly.  Jasper Road has been closed between
Mt. Vernon Cemetery Road
and
Bob Straub Parkway
until late October. Traffic should follow the marked detour onto
Bob Straub Parkway
.

 

Allow extra time, watch for flaggers directing traffic and trucks entering the highway.

 

I-5: COAST FORK WILLAMETTE RIVER MARTIN CREEK

 

(I-5 milepost 169.9 to milepost 171.6 south of Cottage Grove )

 

This project will replace five bridges on Interstate 5 just south of Cottage Grove .

  • Northbound and southbound I-5 over Coast Fork Willamette River : Expect daytime single-lane closures Monday, Oct. 27 through Friday, Oct. 31. Watch for construction work in the median, roadside work crews and construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes.
  • Northbound and southbound I-5 over
    Latham Road
    :
    Expect daytime single-lane closures Monday, Oct. 27, through Friday, Oct. 31.  Watch for roadside work crews and equipment.
  • Northbound and southbound I-5 over Martin Creek (MP 169.6): Expect daytime single-lane closures Monday, Oct. 27, through Friday, Oct. 31.  Watch for construction activities in the median, roadside work crews, and construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes. 

 

I-5: CAMAS SWALE TO

SAGINAW ROAD

 

I-5 between Goshen and Cottage Grove

 

(I-5 milepost 174.7 to milepost 185.5 in Lane County )

 

This project will replace three bridges on Interstate 5 between Cottage Grove and Creswell.

 

  • Saginaw Road Bridge over I-5: Watch for roadside work crews and equipment in the work zone, and construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes. Expect overnight single-lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  •  Southbound I-5 over Brown Creek (mile post 177): Watch for roadside work crews, and construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes. Expect overnight single-lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 over Camas Swale (mile post 185): Watch for roadside work crews, and construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes around the clock.

(I-5 mile posts 148 to 162 in Douglas County )

 

This project will repair six bridges on I-5 between Rice Hill and Curtain. Complete Interstate Maintenance pavement project (mile posts 162 to 169). I-5 southbound at mile post 169: Watch for daytime single-lane closures and roadside work crews conducting pavement repair and maintenance.

 

OR126: N. FORK SIUSLAW RIVER BRIDGE

Florence-Eugene Highway
milepost 0.8-MP 1.51)

 

 

This project replaces a bridge located on Highway 126 over the North Fork of the Siuslaw River just east of Florence . The existing bridge does not meet current deign standards for shoulder width, vehicle crash protection barrier, or earthquake sustainability standards. Deterioration of the existing structure has been accelerating and maintenance costs are increasing. The existing structure will be replaced with a new two-lane bridge in a new alignment just south of the existing structure.

 

Motorists should expect periodic lane closures. Watch for trucks entering and exiting the highway. Boaters should pay attention to the signs on the existing bridge and work bridge directing them to the boating channel.
