No. 4 Best: The Fire Pit
AL ASAD, Iraq -- The Medevac has a fire almost every night outside their compound.
“It’s probably the best thing we’ve got going out here,” says medic Scott Thurman, 27, of Keizer, Ore. “It’s relaxing. We play guitar, chitchat, and joke. It’s good times.”
This month the desert became surprisingly cold so when Medevac soldiers get restless inside their rooms, they can warm themselves outside under the starry, Iraq night.
