PORTLAND, Ore. - There's a new Miss Oregon following a KATU investigation that led the former title holder, Rachel Berry, to step down.
Berry resigned the title after a KATU News report raised questions about her claims of residency and eligibility.
The new Miss Oregon is Nichole Mead of Newport. Mead is a University of Oregon graduate and has a degree in Psychology with a minor in Communications Studies, according to a press release from the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program.
Mead will receive a $10,000 cash scholarship and will move on to compete in the Miss America pageant in January.
Pageant organizers said they could not find proof that Berry had lived in Oregon long enough to qualify for the competition.
The Miss Oregon Pageant has been in operation since 1947, organizers said in their press release.

Meet the new prostitute, same as the old prostitute.
Yay new Miss Oregon who actually lives in Oregon! Good luck! :)
Nichole is not only beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well. She has made such a difference in the lives of traumatized children at Jasper. Good luck Nichole. We're rooting for you!!!
