Zombies in Brownsville

Zombies in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Ore. - People find inspiration in all sorts of things.  For Halsey teen, Tony Miller, it was a parking lot filled with empty cars. The sight resulted in a script for a film called 'Contagious.'

Unsure of whether he could turn this vision into reality, Miller decided to ask for a little help from Scott Smith and Debbie Jensen. They run LB Productions in Brownsville.  It's a small company that tackles everything from comercials, wedding videos ...  even digital photography.

Two months later, nearly one hundred people gathered in the small town.  All of them volunteers coming together for a common goal: to make a movie.

Smith and his crew started production on 'Contagious' Sunday. What LB Productions lacks in funding for the project, they make up for with experience. Smith spent 30 years in Hollywood working on films like 'Eraser' and 'Dracula: Dead and Loving it.'

A seasoned cinema veteran settling down in such a small town may seem strange, but Smith tells KVAL news that he hopes to continue to fuel a fire that has already been started.  Television shows like 'Leverage' and 'Grimm' have found a home in the Portland area. Smith said with filmmakers of that calibur in the northwest, Oregon may find itself home of a new Hollywood.

In the meantime, the crew from LB Productions are having a good time doing what they love, and making a dream come true for a young writer.

There is no word yet on the specific release date, but they are on track for a red carpet premier in Albany Oregon later this year.
