Health advisory issued for Odell Lake
By Associated PressKLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - Health officials have issued a health advisory for Odell Lake, after extremely high algae levels were traced to the lake. The algae can produce toxins harmful to humans and animals. Swallowing or inhaling water from the lake should be avoided, as well as skin contact with water by humans or animals. The toxins cannot be removed by boiling, filtering, or treating water. Health officials also say that if people choose to eat fish from the lake, they should remove all fat, skin and organs before cooking. Potential symptoms from contact with the water can include numbness, tingling, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, cramps or fainting. |
