EUGENE, Ore. -- Seth Wayne is rounding out his goal of losing 50 pounds in an attempt to lead a healthier lifestyle. Since he started the slim down, Seth has received numerous comments from viewers about their personal weight loss goals.
In this week's Slim Down, Seth met up with a man who had a similar weight loss goal ... but for very different reasons.
Americans are considered obese. Here in Oregon, almost 27 percent of people fall into that category.
Mitch Hanan explained that he became a part of that category as he grew older.
"You get busy with your career -- raising a family and you just get lost and you don't realize how different you look from your 30's or maybe your 40's," said Hanlon.
Hanlon said he was up around 240 pounds, so he decided to do something about it. He cut his calories, worked out and dropped more than 50 pounds.
The 53-year-old said that one of his biggest motivations was to be able to enjoy the rest of his years with his family.
"I want to be able to enjoy my years in retirement going forward and didn't see myself as being someone who could provide but more of someone who needed help. That kinda drove me to working out," Hanlon said.
