MOUNT ANGEL, Ore. -- One man was killed and another was seriously injured Thursday evening when they were caught under a bulldozer, deputies said.
The accident happened while a group of men were removing downed logs from a ravine near Mount Angel. The bulldozer the men were using stalled and a tractor was brought in to jumpstart the bulldozer.
Deputies said that's when the bulldozer lurched and started backing down the incline, hitting a man who had become entangled in some tracks and couldn't free himself.
The man, 64-year-old Douglas Haycock, was pulled under the bulldozer and died, according to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
A second man, William Leder, 68, became trapped between the tracks and the blade of the bulldozer. Other workers managed to free him from the bulldozer and administered first aid there, deputies said.
Leder was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. His condition wasn't immediately available.
