1 dead, 2 injured after SUV collides with pickup north of Dufur
LifeFlight took one of the injured people to OHSU.

DUFUR, Ore. - One man is dead and two other people are in the hospital after their SUV collided with a pickup truck on Highway 197, about 5 miles north of Dufur.

The identities of the people involved are not yet available.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m., Oregon State Police said.

The 1992 Chevy Blazer was northbound on Highway 197, approaching the intersection with Ward Road.

A 2005 Chevy pickup driven by Peter Kelly, 73, of The Dalles was westbound on Ward and turned onto Hwy 197 in front of the SUV, police said.

The SUV hit the pickup's left side.

The man in the front passenger seat of the SUV died at the scene. The 59-year-old female driver from Wamic was taken by air ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University with serious injuries, police said. The 17-year-old male in the back seat was taken by ambulance to the hospital in The Dalles.

Kelly, the driver in the pickup, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
