1 hurt, 8 displaced as fire destroys Thurston area home

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - One person suffered minor injuries in a fire that destroyed a Thurston-area home on Monday night, displacing 4 adults and 4 children.

Everyone got out of the house in the 800 block of 57th Street, firefighters said.
They described the injuries suffered by one adult as minor. That person was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Now the fire marshall is trying to figure out what sparked the fire. Battalion chief Scott Bishop said the fire destroyed the interior of the home.

The Red Cross contacted the family about temporary emergency housing.
